Nothing but the best

CMCR Ltd has from day one provided the latest state of the art equipment to its highly experienced staff. Major investment has been made in Leica’s TCRP 1200 “one man” operated system, 1200 TCRA Total Stations and 530 GPS systems. In order to keep up with the ever expanding workload and at the same time fulfilling our statement of being at the “cutting edge of technology” CMCR limited have made further investments in new equipment. Our most recent acquisition is the Leica SmartRover with a licence to Leica SmartNet which will revolutionise survey work in the UK.

Leica Geosystems report that the Leica SmartRover is the lightest cable-free RTK GPS system in the world and is fully compatible with Leica SmartStation, the world’s first total station with integrated GPS.

Leica SmartNet is Great Britain’s first commercial RTK correction service, in other words organisations can now purchase a license to connect directly into a service which provides the GPS corrections directly to the Leica SmartRover thus providing it with its position in real time without the need for post processing.

John Fraser, Regional Director UK and Ireland, Leica Geosystems (pictured here with CMCR Managing Director Graham Callander), says: “I am delighted to announce Leica SmartNet, our new commercial RTK correction service for Great Britain. This is an exciting innovation and I am proud that Leica Geosystems have been able to undertake this bold initiative. Leica SmartNet provides corrections for all users - RTK for precise applications at the centimetre level, and DGPS sub-metre corrections for navigation, GIS and other requirements. As positioning in all its forms becomes more important in our lives, the introduction of Leica SmartNet will allow the surveying industry to provide a seamless, precision coordinate service to an ever-more diverse client base."

CMCR have had the system on trial and are enthused by the possibilities it offers. Operations Director David Motion commented “By utilising the SmartRover and our one person operated SmartStation we will be able to setup and coordinate the total station directly from SmartNet via a mobile phone GPRS connection. It is then just a matter of transferring the SmartAntenna to the SmartRover and replacing the antenna on the total station with the SmartHandle to allow two surveyors to work independently on the same site.
The SmartStation will be used to survey detail around buildings whilst the SmartRover will capture details in the more open areas. In order to process the data CMCR have also increased their investment in n4ce software to 10 Licences, 5 Lite, 3 Professional and 2 Designer. This allows each Survey team access to a software dongle for use on site and our QC staff access in the office via the Designer network licences.”
